> About Big Game Hunter
Your ultimate companion for hunting down the best deals on classic video games. We track thousands of eBay listings daily to help you build your retro gaming collection without breaking the bank.
> How It Works
1. Daily Data Collection
Every day at 2:00 AM, our system scouts eBay for retro game listings across dozens of classic gaming platforms. We collect information about prices, conditions, sellers, and availability.
2. Smart Game Matching
Each listing is automatically matched to its game using AI-powered identification. We cross-reference with the IGDB database to ensure you get accurate game information, cover art, release dates, and platform details.
3. Price Intelligence
Our system tracks price changes over time and calculates daily statistics for each game. We determine fair market prices by analyzing the lowest 10% of listings, giving you a realistic baseline for what you should expect to pay.
4. Deal Identification
Every listing is assigned a Loot Score that tells you at a glance whether it's a great deal or overpriced. This helps you quickly identify the best opportunities without manually comparing prices.
> Understanding Loot Scores
Think of Loot Scores like the rarity system in your favorite RPG. Each listing gets a score based on how its price compares to the fair market value for that game.
LEGENDARY
≤75% of fair priceAn incredible deal! These listings are priced at 75% or less of the fair market value. These are rare finds that won't last long. If you're interested in the game, act fast!
💡 Example: A game typically worth $100 listed for $75 or less
EPIC
76-85% of fair priceA great deal worth considering! Priced between 76% and 85% of fair market value. You're getting solid savings and a good price for the game.
💡 Example: A $100 game listed between $76-$85
RARE
86-95% of fair priceA fair price with modest savings. Priced between 86% and 95% of fair market value. Not a steal, but you're still getting a reasonable deal compared to average listings.
💡 Example: A $100 game listed between $86-$95
COMMON
>95% of fair priceMarket price or above. Priced at 96% or more of fair market value. These listings are at or above typical market rates. You might want to wait for a better deal unless you need the game immediately.
💡 Example: A $100 game listed at $96 or higher
Note: Loot Scores are calculated using our "Fair Price" algorithm, which takes the average of the lowest 10% of current listings. This gives you a realistic baseline that filters out both overpriced listings and potential scams or damaged items.
